Claire Birtles

Senior Practice Nurse

Personal Profile

I qualified as a nurse in 1986 and worked on surgical wards at Birch hill Hospital in Rochdale. I then embarked on midwifery training qualifying in 1989, working as a midwife in first Bury and then Rossendale till 2008. From then I had a change of direction and came to practice nursing. Whilst I cover all aspects of the practice nurse role, I feel my midwifery experience has left me with a particular interest in both womens health and newborn infants care. I have 5 children of my own and I am a farmers daughter who loves having a chat with farming folk. When not working, I enjoy knitting, reading, baking and the occasional glass of vintage cider.

Caroline Crossley

Practice Nurse

Personal Profile

After nursing for many years at Burnley General Hospital I left the U.K. to live abroad in the sunshine. On our return to Burnley, I was lucky enough to obtain a job as Health Care Assistant here at Briercliffe Surgery which I have done for the last four years. Having decided to re-join the Nursing Register, I have recently completed the Return to Practice Course at UCLAN and I am now one of the Practice Nurses here at the surgery. In my spare time, I enjoy nothing more than curling up with a good book.
